Moose Lake and Mosahiken Cree Nation area are active communities in Economic Development, with Commercial Fishing, lOGGING, Trapping and Wild Rice production. The Saskatchewan River Delta and adjoining Cedar Lake provide massive fishing and wildlife production for Commercial Fishing and Trapping, which provides the communities with possible growth and stability in the future. The combined communities have a population of 1,363 residents who work together as one on the development of joint projects. Cormorant is a beautiful community with present and potential economic activity. Cormorant’s intensive economic activity is based upon Commercial Fishing, Trapping, Forestry and Tourism. There is a Forest Reserve in Cormorant which is part of Tolko Manitoba’s logging area, on another note mineral reserves were found within 80 kilometers of the community. Wild rice is another economic activity, which is planted in the nearby lakes surrounding Cormorant. Cormorant hosts a lodge where tourist services are provided for sport fishing and hunting. The community has a campground that provides additional tourist facilities. Simon Nabess Campground at mile 32 provides boat rentals, guides as well as moose, bear and duck hunting services. |
